Her original profession was that of a model, and she takes above and beyond care of her appearance. If in public, Misa is nearly always looking her very best. Nails? Painted. Cosmetics? On. Hair? Styled. Her clothes are also well-fitted, and well-accessorized. Her wardrobe is varied, but in general, leans towards the gothic and punky side of things. Misa has a wide range of looks that she enjoys wearing. Some are more distressed and edgy, while others are more dressy and frilly. She takes a lot of style inspiration from gothic lolita fashion. The one constant is that she almost always dresses in dark colors.

PERSONALITY
Misa is naturally charming, and is by all accounts a "people person" - cheery and bubbly (even in the worst times), she's someone who people warm up to easily. It's easy to underestimate her, sweet and ditzy as she seems, but the truth of the matter is that she is very aware of how she comes off, and relies on playing up a naΓ―ve, feminine persona to take advantage of how others perceive her. She is certainly not above batting an eyelash to get her way. Her trade is in modeling and acting, and as a result, she is exceedingly good at acting under pressure. But when not under pressure... most will find she wears her heart on her sleeve. Misa has little to no filter under normal circumstances - she's expressive, and sort of an airhead, tending to say the first thing that comes to her mind. But she is anything but a pushover: Misa is assertive and presumptuous, commonly doing however she pleases and expecting others to go along with it. She doles out affection to others whether they want it or not, decides for others what her relationship to them is, and has a bad habit of forcing others into doing what she wants them to do. With little respect for authority or the law as well, to say she gives a thimble of consideration to the others around her would be an overstatement. At least when she cares about someone, she really cares— sometimes, a little too much.
When her mood is bad, she can be something of a blatant, unabashed brat. If she feels offended, her first instinct is to resort to name calling, grudge holding, and other petty acts of retaliation. Her greatest strength (and weakness) is that she is headstrong to a fault; she does not back down to anybody, even when it may be in her best interest to do so. She's impulsive and reactive - she's not the type to sit around contemplating the best way to go about things. Misa acts first, thinks later. She also lacks an up-to-code moral compass, thinking it completely fine to do whatever she has to have her goals achieved, up to and including killing innocent people.
Because of all this, Misa can come off incredibly irresponsible and chaotic, often acting from her feelings rather than from logical thought. That isn't to say she's stupid: she's much smarter than her flighty persona would imply. But while capable of scheming and being calculative, Misa is generally reckless and unpredictable - which makes her any long term planner's nightmare.
BACKGROUND
Misa lived the majority of her life in a relatively normal, stable, peaceful environment. She went to school, had friends, had a loving relationship with both her parents, as well as with her sister. That all changed when one faithful night, at the age of 18, a burglar broke into her family home, killing her mother and father at some point during the crime. Misa witnessed both their deaths right in front of her. While the criminal who had murdered her parents had been caught, his trial continued to get pushed back, with gossipers implying that he may even get off on the charges. But then... Kira punished him.
At the time, Misa had only heard of "Kira" in the news. A mysterious, unknown figure who was doling out lethal punishment to criminals all around the world. From the moment she knew that it had been Kira who had erased her parents' killer, Misa became an intense supporter of Kira, a true believer in his ideals. "To make the world a better place, those who do evil must be eradicated."
Shortly after her parents' killer had been dealt with, Misa began her career in modeling. She rose to moderate fame quickly. One of her admirers in particular stalked her for quite some time, before eventually confronting her, threatening to kill her and then himself when she didn't accept his feelings. Before the man could end her life, he died of a heart attack suddenly.
As Misa would come to find out, she wasn't saved by Kira this time— a Shinigami by the name of Gelus had been watching over her for some time in the Shinigami realm, having fallen in love with her. All humans have a certain lifespan, which Shinigami can see. Having been able to tell that Misa's death date had come, Gelus intentionally prevented Misa's death.
And it's from here that Misa was introduced to the Death Note, a special notebook that can kill anyone who's name is written inside. Gelus had used his notebook to kill her stalker, and Kira had used his notebook to kill her parents' killer. A Shinigami by the name of Rem gifted Gelus's Death Note to Misa, telling her that while she was supposed to die, she lived on due to Gelus's actions— and that he would have wanted her to have his Death Note.
The knowledge that she was meant to die weighed heavily on Misa's psyche. Having lost her parents, and now carrying the knowledge that she was living on borrowed time, she became obsessed with trying to find some meaning, some purpose to her life. She began romanticizing dying for a cause, for her life to mean something. She wanted to feel loved again.
As a result, she careened into a selfish, reckless obsession with meeting Kira, and supporting Kira any way she could. In effort to track down the true identity of Kira, Misa traded half of her remaining (new) lifespan for the Shinigami eyes, allowing her to see any person's name and lifespan. To catch Kira's attention, she sent a number of tapes to broadcasting stations, using a voice filter to disguise her voice, and claimed to be Kira herself. During the broadcasts of these tapes, she killed several innocent news broadcasters on air with her Death Note solely because they had vocally disagreed with Kira's ideals. In the tapes, she also threatened to kill off several police chiefs around the world if her demands were not met. In doing all this, she believed Kira would see the broadcasts and realize that she had the same power that he did. Following these events, the Japanese police dubbed the sender of the tapes the "Second Kira."
Succeeding in drawing Kira's attention, she managed to discover Kira's identity (Light Yagami) just by looking at him on the street. She then "fell in love at first sight" with him, and proceeded to buy his personal information on the black market so that she could meet him in person at his address. Misa explained to Light that she wanted to meet Kira out of gratitude, but fell in love with Light himself the moment she laid eyes on him. During this very first meeting, she went as far as to say that Light was more important to her than the world, and that she didn't mind if he just used her and played the part of her boyfriend. Still, while she offered him her loyalty as a supporter of Kira, she simultaneously put a possessive and hindering chain on him, by forcing him into a relationship, and threatening to kill any girls that she saw him with.
Shortly after Misa and Light made their "alliance," Misa was apprehended as the Second Kira. For the following fifty days, Misa was kept in solitary confinement in a blindfold and straightjacket, at times without access to water. It was during this time that she relinquished her ownership of the Death Note, effectively erasing her memories of using it.
Once free of suspicion (temporarily), she and Light assisted the Kira investigation team in finding the identity of the new Kira. Once the new Kira was apprehended, Misa regained her ownership of the Death Note and her memories of using it, and more importantly halved her remaining lifespan a second time to gain the Shinigami eyes (...again.) From there, she began taking the lives of criminals once more, as per Light's instructions. Her kill count prior to arriving in Kenos is estimated to be somewhere in the twenties or thirties.

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: Brackets! But I'll match to prose.
Backtagging: Sure! I tend to tag newer things faster than backtags, but I'm happy to backtag for a quite while so long as we're both invested in the thread.
Threadhopping: Yep π
Offensive Subjects: N/A!
IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: Go for it! Just know that she is quite weak and thus won't be able to fight back much. I don't mind her getting roughed up, though!
Death/Dissipation: Yes, but let's discuss first.
Physical Affection: Most definitely yes, she's very open to people being affectionate with her, so long as she reads the affection as friendly.
Shipping/Sex: laughs.... the chances are very slim, but it's not impossible, as her feelings for Light are in actuality not that genuine π it's complicated. She's still capable of feeling genuine things for someone who Actually cares about her instead of seeing her as a tool. However, it would take a lot of build up and would be extremely messy by nature of the intense grip her delusions of being in love with Light have on her. I'm open to the possibility, but it's not my main focus!
Mental/Communion: Go for it! Especially those of the Exalt Aspect, feel free to infer her feelings through an empathic bond at any time.
Offensive Subjects: None...? She has traumatic experiences but is very adept at skirting the weight those experiences have on her psyche.
