She is right in that he's used to stuff like that. Fighting, getting captured, sustaining grievous injury....none of it really scares him anymore. He might not want to die, but he doesn't fear death. It's been a close companion of his for far too long now, slipping into his shadow all those years ago and following him every step of the way since then.
The things he does fear though... Eustace closes his eyes. Sighs a little. Almost sounds little exasperated as he says: ]
